Hey Reader, my monthly email that I sent out last week was a little bit of a departure from my usual updates, which typically include exercises and info on what's been going on here at the clinic. Instead, I talked about the quote from the poet Rumi, "Live life as if everything is rigged in your favor". I hope that's helped you during this first part in June; I know it resonated with a lot of people! So, that means I missed my usual window to talk about PT! In order to make sure you got your physical therapy fix, I'm hitting your inbox up with a second email this month. First up, in my May e-mail I mentioned that I've been encouraging more people to strength train by providing shorter, 20 minute workouts each week on my Instagram. I'm linking to the first body weight 20 minute workout I did in May here. It consists of:
You know I like to talk about the importance of adding weight to our exercise routines, but ANY workout is better than trying to figure out and do the PERFECT workout. So if you don't have weights, try the above as a perfect jumping off point for your strength training this summer! Over on Instagram, I celebrated 5 years as a physical therapist! Time is weird - those 5 years seem to have both flown by, but walking across that stage seems like an entire lifetime ago. I shared some of the biggest things I've learned and what I've integrated into my practice in those five years. And speaking of learning, I've also shared some great posts about plantar fasciitis, bike fits, and a fun tidbit on where the name Chain Reaction actually came from! Click on any of the pics below to learn more. Another update for this summer is that I am unfortunately not taking any new patients until August at the earliest, currently. Chain Reaction is full to the brim due to so many of you sending your friends and family to me. I am forever grateful for your trust in me with your loved ones, and can't wait to be able to open up my schedule again to meet more of them! We are currently compiling a waitlist and will contact prospective patients when spots do open up. If I am unable to open up enough spots in August, we will be letting everyone on the waitlist know that as well. Because I am at max capacity, I am trying to put out as much content as possible on Instagram and through my newsletter so that people can still gain insight on movement and physical therapy. If you have people who you think would benefit from learning more from me, I would sincerely love it if you could share this newsletter with them so that they can subscribe! Simply forward it on; there's a link at the bottom where they can click to join! I hope everyone has had a great start to their June. Stay tuned for further announcements and more physical therapy goodness headed into your inbox this summer! Yours in fearless movement, Jessie

Hey Reader, I get asked a lot about the "best" core exercises. It feels like everyone has been told that their core is "weak" and that's the reason for their (insert body part here) pain. I'd like to argue that maybe your core isn’t weak, it’s just underutilized. Let’s differentiate. “Weak” = not strong, unable to drive force. “Underutilized” = unable to be recruited effectively, allows other muscles to work harder in its place. Sure, it can also be both. But since our body always works in...

Happy November, everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful and spooky Halloween. In Prescott, there is one street with old (for the southwest) historical houses that goes ALL OUT for Halloween. They close down the entire street for trick or treaters and the entire couple of blocks is full of Halloween parties and scary decorations. We went down there to hang in, take in the sights, and see what the popular costumes were this year! (A lot of blow up costumes of all sorts of things. My favorite...
